Cool macbook mods

Here are some nice mods that people made on their macbooks. Most of these things i wouldn’t try at home but it’s nice to know that someone has managed to do it.

White macbook – black keys

Nice looking and easy to make mod, it kinda looks like those new aluminum macbooks. All you need is a friend with a black macbook :)

Or you could buy a spare keyboard from eBay for less then 20$.

Colorful Apple logo

If you want a nice green, red or blue apple logo on your mac all you need is a screwdriver and a transparency paper in desired color. You might have some troubles opening the screen but it’s not impossible, just be careful not to destroy your notebook.

Apple logo display

If a shiny red logo is not enought for you, you could put a screen behind it. This way you can show anything, pictuers, screensaver, itunes visualiser, movies or anything else, inside your apple logo.

Fingerprint reader

If you are ready for some cutting, you could install a fingerprint reader on your macbook. This is a rather big mod, and I’m not really sure is it worth it. You can find more about it here.

Early iPad

Way before iPad, in early 2007, there was a company that was turning macbooks into tablets. They were based on a 13.3″ white macbooks with Core 2 duo processors, and were called ModBooks. While retaining all macbook features they also had Wacom pen enabled display within a chrome-magnesium shell
